- noun
- The number equivalent to the product of a thousand and a million; 1,000,000,000 or 109.
- Example: The number of Chinese was 1.25 billion, while India's population was about 1 billion.

- Example: India is going to experience steady growth in its population and it will overtake China.

- A person who is very knowledgeable about or skilful in a particular area.
- Example: Experts say that by 2030, both countries will have the same population of 1.45 billion.

- Move from a higher to a lower level, typically rapidly and without control.
- Example: China's population will peak in 2030 and then begin to fall.

- The process of increasing in size.
- Example: India is going to experience steady growth in its population and it will overtake China.

- Example: The population in India will increase more quickly than in China.

- At roughly the same time.
